The Buglioni 2018 Valpolicella Classico Superiore Ripasso Il Bugiardo is rich and saturated with lots of oak spice, dried cherry and blackberry. There is an earthy note with some dried herb and dried flowers too. This wine delivers the distinctive richness of the Valpolicella at an affordable price.

The 2015 Valpolicella Classico Superiore Ripasso Il Bugiardo is a very exuberant, very full and fruit-forward wine. Showing ripe, sweet and dark fruit with sweet spice at the end, this would spread holiday cheer with a pumpkin ravioli. The wine has a silky-smooth texture, with a nice entry into the mouth, all framed by soft tannins. This Valpolicella sees only a light appassimento and a partial ripasso in small barrels.

The 2008 Valpolicella Classico Superiore Ripasso Il Bugiardo possesses a measure of additional textural richness and depth from the ripasso vinification. Mocha, new leather, spices and tobacco add complexity to the fruit in this forward, juicy Valpolicella. Everything is in the right place. The 2007 Valpolicella Classico Superiore Ripasso Il Bugiardo offers up gorgeous scents of dark cherries, mocha, chocolate and spices. This shows excellent richness and depth while avoiding heaviness. The French oak appears just a touch overly prominent, but the purity of fruit is nevertheless quite striking. It is a totally delicious Valpolicella. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2015.
