The 2007 Barolo Rocche dell-Annunziata is another of the highlights in this set of wines. Perfumed red cherries, licorice and sweet spices come together in a nuanced, finely detailed style that is the signature of this important La Morra vineyard. The rich, textured fruit shows marvelous persistence through to the finish. As is the case with so many estates, there is a certain flattening of the hierarchy among vineyards and the Rocche, though very, very fine, doesn't quite stand apart from the rest of the wines here to the degree it usually does. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025.
This is another strong set of new releases from the Revello brothers. The 2007s saw 4-5 days of maceration and fermentation and were aged in French oak, approximately 40-50% new for the single-vineyard wines and 15-20% for the straight Barolo. The Gattera was aged in a 15 hectoliter cask.
