The 2008 Chianti Classico opens with an attractive burst of fruit but then loses its vitality on the mid-palate, as so many Chiantis do in 2008. The estate’s hallmark elegance comes through nicely, but ultimately this is a relatively small-scaled, lithe vintage for the Chianti Classico. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2015.
San Giusto is one of the pearls of Italy. This small, family-run property is a great source for hand-made, artisan wines that reflect the best of the Tuscan vigneron spirit. Simply put, I was blown away by most of these new releases.
