A wine I hadn't seen for a while, the 2016 Gran Caus Blanco is always a pleasant and approachable white, perhaps not terribly complex but clean, consistent and with balance to age—all without the aid of any oak. It's a blend of 50% Xarello, 30% Chenin Blanc and 20% Chardonnay fermented in stainless steel vats with indigenous yeasts. The nose is clean and fruit-driven with notes of apples and pears, not too showy but rather harmonious. There are some hints of development, a touch of honey in the flavors, perhaps from the Chenin. 15,600 bottles and 40 magnums were filled in March 2017.
