Showing a bold garnet color, the 2011 Aglianico del Vulture Teodosio is extra soft and layered. This is a more immediate expression of one of the Italian wines best known for its long aging capacity. Sweet tannins are followed by sweet tobacco, new leather, ripe fruit, blackberry preserves, cola and licorice. This is a lovely expression that will show its best side within the next five years or so. Because of the heat of the vintage, I would expect a shorter drinking window compared to wines made in cooler years.
