From the well run estate of Marco Ricasoli, the 1995 Vin Santo, just as its immediate predecessor in 1994, is one of Tuscany’s best. A burnished amber in color, its rich, complex nose of hazelnuts, butterscotch, dried apricots, and raisins is followed by dense, sweet, and voluminous flavors, honeyed but fresh and bracing as well, and with an extra measure of viscosity on the finish which raises the wine into a higher category. Like caramel in the glass. Thick and sweet, with smoke, toffee and vanilla character. Full-bodied and sweet, with a long finish. A top producer of Vin Santo, although very small production.
