The 2004 Vin Santo del Chianti Classico is another in a series of beautiful, exotic sweet wines from Rocca di Montegrossi. It is a huge wine bursting with dried figs, molasses, burnt sugar, spices and dried flowers, all of which come together in a dense, full-throttle style. Expressive aromatics are woven throughout, which keep the wine fresh and vibrant. The estate’s 2004 Vin Santo was made from 95% Malvasia and 5% Canaiolo Nero. The fruit was dried for three months, and the wine spent 5 years and 7 months in small barrels of oak, cherry and mulberry. Residual sugar was a whopping 388 grams. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2024.
