More straightforward, yet still delicious and drinking nicely, the 2004 Gigondas Domaine Grand Romane offers ample kirsch, licorice and toasted spice aromas and flavors, medium-bodied richness and some dry tannin on the finish. Coming from the Northeast portion of the appellation and a mostly barrel-aged blend of 65% Grenache, 20% Mourvedre and 15% Syrah, it too is best consumed over the coming couple of years.
