Rock solid, the 2005 Gigondas Domaine Grande Romane offers lots of mesquite, cedar and wood spice like qualities to go with a core of sweet currant and cherry fruit. Medium-bodied, supple and seamless, it too is drinking beautifully today. The blend here is 65% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre and 15% Syrah, all of which was aged 18 months in 40% large casks, 30% in 2-year-old barrels and 30% in new barrels.
