The 2012 Brunello di Montalcino is a bit thinner in appearance compared to its peers and not as concentrated in terms of color. Remember, the 2012 vintage is remarkable because of the darkness of its wines. However, Le Macioche takes a more graceful and streamlined approach both in terms of how the wine looks and how it tastes. The bouquet offers tight and brambly aromas of white cherry, cassis, wild mushroom, licorice and smoke. The acidity is a bit prickly, but the wine offers firmness and linearity that should carry it forth through the next decade.
