The 2013 Aglianico del Vulture offers a greener and more clinched interpretation of the vintage. There is a distinct element of thorniness or bramble on first nose. I do notice that it retreats and tends to get buried within the dark fabric of the wine following a few swift swirls of the glass. The mouthfeel shows power and a firm tannic line, but the wine's build is thinner and shorter than expected. The wine ages in botte grande for 18 months.
