The 2001 Barolo Pernanno has held up well. Back in 2001 proprietor Davide Mozzone used more French oak (60%) on the Pernanno than he does today. The oak has flattened the bouquet a touch, otherwise this is a solid effort. Dark cherries, leather, and spices are layered into the attractive, generous finish. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2016.
