The single-vineyard 2005 Barolo Pernanno offers an additional level of richness and density, although still within the context of the smaller-scaled vintage. Here the fruit is darker and more intensely spiced than in the Barolo while the tannins are broader and firmer, yet this remains a fairly accessible Barolo at this early stage. The Pernanno was aged in French oak barrels of which 1/3rd were new. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2020.
These are two very beautiful Barolos from Cascina Bongiovanni and charismatic proprietor Davide Mozzone.
