Tasted at the vertical retrospective at the property. The 1959 Chateau Dauzac has a deep core with a light bricking on the rim, commensurate with bottles this age. The bouquet is very attractive with "melted" scents of warm bricks, terracotta, dried rose petals and sage. The palate is smooth and harmonious, the acidity lending freshness. It is not complex, but at the same time you would not describe it as a rustic Margaux - this has class. It is old school Bordeaux that continues to offer a modicum of refinement. It is not long, but has a silky texture and you would finish a bottle of this no problem (though personally I would not decant it). Tasted June 2015.
