This wine may be the finest Brune et Blonde made by Guigal over the last three decades. Having had one of my last bottles for my forty-ninth birthday, I was thrilled by how young, vibrant, and rich this wine remains. The color is a deep dark ruby/garnet, and the nose offers a blast of jammy black-raspberry fruit intertwined with smoked meat and roasted herb aromas. Extremely full-bodied, thick, juicy, and amazingly concentrated, this is an explosive Brune et Blonde that should continue to drink well for another decade. Anticipated maturity: now-2005. Last tasted 7/96.
