The 1986 Brune et Blonde is a satisfying wine, but it needs to be drunk up. Deep garnet-colored, with a bouquet of road tar, licorice, blackcurrants, and olives, it is somewhat austere and tannic, which is typical of the 1986 vintage in the northern Rhone. There is some toughness in the finish, which I doubt will ever dissipate fully. Not bad for the vintage. Anticipated maturity: now-2001. Last tasted 11/95.
