The 2001 Chateauneuf du Pape reveals aromas of peppermint, lavender, spice box, leather, underbrush, and notions of sweet and sour cherry and currant fruit. Medium-bodied, but unexciting and slightly tannic, the flavors suggested by the aromas are not present. Give it 1-2 years of cellaring and drink it over the following decade.
