The 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape (70% Grenache and 30% Syrah and Mourvedre from 45-year-old vines) is a sleeper of the vintage. Dense ruby/purple-hued with an impressive nose of black fruits, meat juices, truffles, and licorice, it is a layered, velvety-textured, full-bodied effort with superb purity as well as length. It can be drunk now or cellared for 12-15 years.
