A blend of 70% Grenache, 20% Mourvedre and 10% Syrah aged in both cement and old wood foudres, the 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape exhibits abundant aromas of black cherry jam intermixed with hints of herbs and a meaty, porcini mushroom-like character, a seductive, round, lush style and medium to full body. This peppery, spicy 2009 should be drunk over the next 5-7 years.
This excellent estate has come on strongly over the last 5-6 years under the leadership of proprietors Yannick and Corinne Gasparri. 2010 appears to be this domaine’s strongest vintage since the brilliant 2007s.
