Badia a Coltibuono always promotes a traditional and streamlined winemaking style. The 2013 Chianti Classico Riserva perfectly fits this billing. This is a bright, ruby colored and mid-weight effort. The wine sits pretty in the glass, reflecting the ambient light. Sour cherry, wild blueberry and forest berries emerge from the bouquet with zest and determination. The mouthfeel shows more length than it does power or extract. It glides over the palate with silky intensity. Mild hints of tobacco and campfire ash appear on the finish.

Leather, fading cherry, spice, woodsy and iron notes highlight this red. Balanced and solidly built, in a traditional style, with a long, densely structured aftertaste.
