The 2005 Rosso di Montalcino is less generous and flashy than the 2006 but it actually possesses a higher degree of subtlety and complexity in its aromas and flavors even if it doesn’t quite have the persistence of its younger sibling. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2010. I continue to be impressed with the wines of La Poderina, which is located in Castelnuovo dell’Abate.
