A single pipe of the 1978 Sandeman Vintage Porto was filled to celebrate the birth of Christopher Sandeman, the 8th generation of the family. It has a deep color compared to other vintages in the decade. The nose seems to lack vigor, missing animation and warmth. The palate is sweet and candied, much more youthful than I would have expected, with a one-dimensional viscous finish. This is an anomalous Sandeman that bares no gustatory relationship to vintages from the era. An oddity! Drink now.
