The 2003 Sandeman Vintage Porto has a voluptuous bouquet with sensual aromas of small black cherries, cassis, juniper berries and licorice. It is well-defined and pure, with no sign of the heat from the vintage. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe, rounded tannins, and plush in the mouth with lightly spiced black fruit. The finish is not dissimilar to the 2000 and suggests that the 2003 will benefit from another few years in bottle. Although it shows a little warmth of alcohol, this is a thoroughly decent Sandeman. Drink 2018-2035.
