The 1980 Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru is one of the most compelling mature wines I've ever drunk from Domaine Dujac. Soaring from the glass with scents of rose petals, raspberries, cinnamon, Griotte cherries, blood orange and incense, it's full-bodied, satiny and layered, with a deep and concentrated core, bright acids and melting tannins, concluding with a long, resonant finish. Seamless and ethereal, this is a magical Clos Saint-Denis at the peak of its powers. Its only misfortune was to be drunk alongside an even more profound bottle of the 1980 La Tache.
