The Castello di Rampolla is one of my favorite Tuscan producers. Their 1988 Chianti Classico is closed and surprisingly tannic, but the deep dark color and the weighty, ripe fruit are more than sufficient to stand up to the wine's tannin level. I would not want to drink this Chianti without another year of cellaring. It has the potential to last up to ten years. Importer: Vias Imports, Great Neck, NY.
