Castello dei Rampolla has never put much emphasis on its regular Chianti Classico bottlings, or on Sangiovese for that matter, but I found the 2001 Chianti Classico more than agreeable in its fresh and sweetly herbaceous red and black currant nose, its soft, round palate, and the attractive finish of plums, tar, and herbs.
