The debut 1995 Allende is coming to the end of its life. It has a pleasant raspberry and wild strawberry bouquet with a slight estuarine tincture, but satisfactory freshness and definition. It develops a ferrous note with continued aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a rustic opening, a little disjointed perhaps, with simple red berry fruits that are beginning to fade. Drink now.
Commencing with the Allende Blanc, I was impressed by how well this ages. Predominantly Viura with a higher percentage of Malvasia in older vintages, it develops a fine waxy texture and almost dried Barsac-like personality.
