The 1996 Allende offers more fruit intensity on the nose with mulberry, blackberry and a hint of eucalyptus. The palate is well-balanced with firm, powdery tannins and just a little toughness toward the tannic, almost Medoc-like finish. Fine, but I find this a little “serious.” Drink now-2015.
Commencing with the Allende Blanc, I was impressed by how well this ages. Predominantly Viura with a higher percentage of Malvasia in older vintages, it develops a fine waxy texture and almost dried Barsac-like personality.
