The 2002 Allende does not quite have the same level of cohesion and brightness as the 2001, with a touch more volatility creeping in. The palate is well-balanced, with chunky red currant and cranberry fruit that leads to a foursquare, rather conservative finish. Fine. Drink now-2017.
Commencing with the Allende Blanc, I was impressed by how well this ages. Predominantly Viura with a higher percentage of Malvasia in older vintages, it develops a fine waxy texture and almost dried Barsac-like personality.
