Last Tasted 3/92I thought this was a strong showing for the 1977 vintage. The color is moderately deep ruby with only a trace of amber at the edge. Although the nose offers ripe fruit, it is surprisingly backward and unevolved. In the mouth, there is fine tannin and good concentration and depth, as well as a firm, austere finish. This wine, which is not yet fully mature, should continue to fill out, and may turn out to be a surprisingly fine vintage for Beaulieu with considerable aging potential. Anticipated maturity: 1994-2010.
