Daniel Brusset is well-known for producing rich, huge, full-bodied Gigondas wines from his Les Hauts de Montmirail estate. With respect to Brusset's 1992 Gigondas Les Hauts de Montmirail, the following notes apply only to the cuvee sold to the American importer. The wine reveals a dark ruby color, a forceful bouquet of sweet vanillin, toasty new oak, black fruits, herbs, and roasted nuts. Ripe and full-bodied, with layers of jammy fruit, this supple, generously endowed Gigondas exhibits none of the dilution or vegetal character revealed by many wines of this appellation. An exceptional effort for the vintage, it should be drunk over the next decade.
